Musings
Has anything else in the world been going on besides the Michael Jackson Trial and the Runaway Bride? Are these the replacement fare for the Scott Peterson trial? If anyone has seen the movie "Wag the Dog" they are familiar with the methods used to manipulate public opinion.
The news shows predicted a win for Tony Blair based on exit polls. Why are exit polls reliable for the UK election but unreliable for the 2004 US election?
Why are public funds being used for George Bush's "town hall meetings" to discuss Social Security that only supporters of Bush's privatization/destruction plan are allowed to attend?
Our Congressional corporatocracy, as part of the energy bill, voted to drill in the ANWR. In 10 years it is projected that it will produce 1 million barrels of oil a day. A proposal by the Democrats to have automakers build cars that would average a minimum of 33 mpg was voted down by the Republicans. That would have saved TWO million barrels of oil a day in 10 years. It's not about the oil per se. It's about the PROFITS that oil would bring. Conservation makes no money. It's only good for the people and the planet, two things this administration has no interest in at all.

Joann,
I enjoy your opinions, and am glad you started a blog.
I am curious as to why you couldn't post the original post about the "re-enlistment" issue?
I don't consider that Tony won anything....he merely happens to be at the helm at the time the Labour Party won. I think that Tony will be making an exit and maybe not so discreetly as he would like.
I too am sick to death of the "play news" we keep getting from all the TV sources.
I feel like Michael Jackson was set up to provide this spectacular distraction. The same with Martha Stewart. Have you noticed that this administration likes to serve up women at the altar whenever they need a sacrificial lamb. First Martha and now Brigadier General Karpinski.

I agree about women being scapegoated. Lynndie Englund hardly thought up the torture herself. That came from the White House where resident Bush, who thought it was fun to blow up frogs, and signed more death warrants than any governor in history had Alberto Gonzales, who ignored evidence while advising then Gov. Bush on those Texas death penalty cases, come up with a defense for ignoring Geneva Conventions. Every intelligence expert has said torture doesn't work, so why do it unless you're a sadistic SOB who now needs more than exploded frog parts to excite you. Remember that this is the man who couldn't think of anything he did wrong and had never taken responsibility for anything. Psychiatrists call this type of person a sociopath.

Joann, Bush is a "madman" pure and simple.....
He loves to insult and demean Kim Jung Il, but yet it is only Bush who declared war on innocent Iraqi people and it is Bush who had our military demean and degrade the Iraq prisoners, and bomb the country with depleted uranium. Bush is the only terrorist I have recognized the past 4 years.
